Important Information for You and Your Family

For several years, I wrote and published a quarterly newsletter entitled "Hook's Line and Thinker".  The primary reason for the newsletter was to educate the public about dental topics and give people a choice by informing them of their options and giving them valuable information about their dental health.  This website allows me to continue "teaching" the public thus giving the reader a chance to choose the best treatment option for them!  Please visit this page often and celebrate the freedom that knowledge provides you!

                  SincerelyDr. Hook

A lengthy informational story is not needed here because there are several excellent information sources right here on the internet.  Let me start by referring you to a great web site that has almost all the dental information a lay person could ever want.  This site is easy to read and quite comprehensive.  You can even send an anonymous email note to a friend who has bad  breath!

Besides information, many people are concerned with misinformation that is prevalent on websites as well as talk radio.  This link will connect you to a very well done consumer website that is dedicated to defeating fraud and quakery.  This site has a very well done position report on the controversy about mercury-containing dental fillings.                                     www.NCAHF.org

After you reach the Health Fraud website, look for the yellow box labeled "Breaking News".  Find the link that says "Position Paper on Amalgam Fillings".  Click on that link and you will have the best unbiased, truthful article on this so called mercury scare.

The American Dental Association web site offers a series of "One Minute Dentist" educational videos on dozens of topics including explanation of the various dental specialties and common misconceptions about dental health to videos on specific dental health problems and even the history of dental care itself.  A wealth of good information in easily understood one minute segments!  Click on this link to open this invaluable resource.
